A quiet canal-side connection.
Follow the canal between the Ginkakuji area and southern Higashiyama. The path itself is roughly two kilometres; reaching Nanzenji adds walking beyond its southern end.
The story behind this place
The path is associated with Nishida Kitaro, a 20th-century philosopher who taught at Kyoto University. He used this area for walking and reflection. Its English name remembers that habit, turning an ordinary canal-side walk into an invitation to slow down and think.
