Follow the vermilion gates.
Explore the lower shrine and torii paths. The summit circuit is a separate, longer uphill walk; you do not need to complete it to enjoy this visit.
The story behind this place
Inari worship is closely connected with rice and prosperity. The fox statues are messengers of the deity, rather than the deity itself. Many of the torii gates were donated as expressions of prayer or gratitude, making the paths a landscape of individual offerings.
