The story behind this place
Whity Umeda makes the station district a place to browse and eat as well as pass through. Its named malls and plazas give the underground network a neighbourhood character.
Around Izumi no Hiroba, the eastern dining area offers a different reason to linger from the station-side shopping passages. The former fountain is no longer the current landmark: the redesigned plaza uses the Water Tree installation. The fountain photograph in this gallery records the plaza before that renewal.
Take the passage names seriously when choosing a route. Umeda has several connected facilities with different layouts and opening calendars. A short café or restaurant stop works well here without trying to cover the entire underground district; use the operator’s current map to find the right branch.
