Osaka Museum of Housing and Living.
Explore the museum’s full-size Edo-period streets and displays about everyday life in later Osaka. The museum is inside the Housing Information Center at 6-4-20 Tenjinbashi, above the shopping arcade. It is closed for renovation from September 1, 2026 through January 5, 2027: visit the nearby arcade instead during this period. Check the official calendar before planning a museum visit.
The story behind this place
The museum’s life-size town recreates Osaka in the 1830s, during the Edo period of shogun rule. Tenroku is the local abbreviation for Tenjinbashisuji Rokuchome, meaning the sixth section of Tenjinbashisuji. The museum lets you compare an old merchant town with the streets outside.
