Shinsaibashi-suji.
Browse the shopping street and the Daimaru Shinsaibashi area, then turn west toward Amerikamura. Allow more time if you plan department-store shopping rather than a simple walk through.
The story behind this place
The name recalls Shinsaibashi bridge, associated with the merchant Okada Shinsai in 1622. Private merchants helped build bridges as Osaka expanded. The shopping district around this crossing grew into one of the city’s best-known commercial streets.
