Osaka City Hall surroundings.
Enjoy the exterior streetscape and continue east toward the Central Public Hall. Seasonal installations and special lighting are date-dependent, not a guaranteed nightly attraction.
The story behind this place
Osaka’s city government moved to this Nakanoshima location in 1921. The building seen today replaced that earlier hall. The site’s continuing civic role helps explain why government offices and major public cultural buildings stand close together on this riverside island.
