Namba Yasaka Shrine.
The distinctive stage is a memorable sight, but this is an active shrine. Visit respectfully and plan this stop before the food-market portion of your day.
The story behind this place
The enormous lion-shaped stage is a modern addition, completed in 1974. It is used for performances connected with the shrine’s worship. Its dramatic face makes the shrine memorable, but the structure itself is not a surviving building from ancient Japan.
