Hokoku Shrine.
Add this cultural stop to an Osaka Castle Park walk. The shrine honors Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Hideyori and Hidenaga. Its torii, statue and shrine buildings make a distinct destination within the park; allow extra walking time rather than counting it as the castle museum entrance.
The story behind this place
This shrine honours Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the 16th-century ruler closely associated with Osaka Castle, together with his son Hideyori and brother Hidenaga. Hideyoshi helped unify Japan after years of conflict. The shrine connects a quiet corner of the park with that powerful family’s story.
